In order to be able to reach Guetenbach being on 850-950 meters over sea level you drive through the beautiful "Simonswaeldertal" coming from the West. It's a kind of anticipated joy, an event to drive the 4,5 km to Guetenbach passing through the "Simonswaelder pass". The "artificial street" meanders in over 50 bends near to the mountains, through dense Black Forest region to let the visitor look at wild valleys and steep slopes. One needed 11 years of hard work to manufacture this masterly building of highway. It is the longest street built by natural stones in Germany. A big breach of a rock is, finally, the "gateway of Guetenbach". Here former lived rich clock-workers who coined the not usually big dwelling-houses in the Black Forest. Wanderer like Guetenbach very much when being a good walker. Innumerable good ways lead through gorges and heights delivering always new views over the great Black Forest. Please order a video against payment in advance titled "Welcome to Guetenbach", in order to obtain an insight into our nature. Our local chapter of the Black Forst Club is responsible for walkings. Many wanderings begin and end at the village museum. One of the most beautiful excursions is the snackhouse and wandering club "Hintereck" managed by the Black Forest Club. |
