Historical collection of cuckoo-clocks

The biggest historical collection of cuckoo-clocks in Germany is to be seen in the village museum of Guetenbach. The viewer can see the chronological development of this kind of clocks liked in the whole world by means of over 30 exhibition pieces.

It began with a wood-wheeled cuckoo-clock which was made around 1740 over to the Lackschild- Kuckucksuhr to the cuckoo-clock in "Bahnhaeusleform". The fluent form of today with medley carved ornaments was developed by this original form during the course of the decades in the middle of the 18th century.

Likewise to see modern cuckoo-clocks coming from the Spaet-Biedermeierzeit, or out of the time of the Art nouveau. Besides a so-called "Jagdstueck" with a height of 1,3 meters there is presented a special kind of a cuckoo-clock not yet known in the collection. The design of the housing comes up to a wall-clock in form of a "regulator". The extremely big "cuckoo", is to be seen in the low part of the housing in a "Torbogen". The visitor can look into the inner of a cuckoo-clock and its function.

All exhibition pieces originate from the region of Guetenbach and are to be seen captioned sufficiently. About 10 clock-maker do their job by manufacturing cuckoo-clocks.
